Estonian healthcare is facing an important question: does the freezing of salaries drive doctors and nurses abroad and prolong waiting times for treatment? It is difficult to strike a balance between the complicated budget of the Health Insurance Fund and the justified demands of healthcare workers.

As healthcare workers, we are burdened every day with a heavy workload and low salaries, so what will happen to us if the freezing of salaries continues? Will we still be able to continue in Estonia as competition from foreign markets and private clinics increases? Would the proposed compromise related to salary increases due to inflation be sufficient to keep us from leaving our jobs?
